Oak Harbor has new manager

SLIDELL - It was a love of Southeast Louisiana and golf that brought Jamey Clark from the suburbs of Chicago to Slidell.

Now, the 26-year-old is the new general manager at Oak Harbor Golf Club.

He is replacing John Schiller, who was the general manager at Oak Harbor for four years before he left for Colonial Golf and County Club in Harahan last month.

Clark was previously general manager at Mississippi National Golf Club in Gautier, Miss.

"This is a great opportunity - I've always loved this golf course," he said. "I've always had something in my heart for the New Orleans area."

No major changes are planed for the course, Clark said. "John left the course in great shape. Nothing is going to change."

He said Oak Harbor will continue their LinksClub program and will hold more tournaments and clinics.

"We are going to have more of these type of outings. Everyone loves tournament play," he said.

Before Mississippi National, Clark was an assistant pro at Glenlakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala. and at Willow Creek in Greenville, N.C.

A native of Illinois, he attended the University of Illinois and received his degree in marketing in 1998.

"Since I was a teenager, this is what I have always wanted to do."

With only a week on the job so far, he said most of his time has been spent keeping up with tournaments and making sure customer service is maintained.

Oak Harbor opened in 1992 and is owned by LinksCorp.
