A 39-year-old Slidell woman died Thursday morning when her SUV flipped several times on an Interstate 12 onramp near Slidell. She was ejected her from the vehicle.

Darlene Trawick was pronounced dead at the scene after the 12:37 a.m. accident at milepost 85.5.

State Police Trooper First Class Louis Calato said Trawick was traveling on the I-12 westbound onramp from I-10 when she approached the intersection of the Interstate 59 southbound off ramp and veered to the right side, striking a guardrail. Trawick overcorrected back to the right, sending her SUV into a roll three times.

Trawick, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected through the passenger side window and hit by her Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was still moving forward. The SUV came to rest in the woods off to the right side of the roadway, state police said.

Alcohol is suspected, however, blood tests are pending, state police said.

" It really hits home when you know the people involved. These kids had so much potential and talent but lacked the guidance they needed to do anything. Now at such a young age they become a product of the penial system. My prayers go out to the all the families that were involved in this juvenile-minded, foolish crime. "
