The Slidell Police Department is asking for public help in finding a wanted felon charged with aggravated second-degree battery and false imprisonment.

Slidell Police Department spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz said a warrant has been issued for Eddrin Smith, 28, 1020 Rue Bordeaux, in connection with a March 5 incident in which a woman was allegedly beaten and held prisoner by Smith.

Foltz said Smith allegedly beat the woman unconscious with his fists and a fireplace shovel while at her residence.

According to police, when the woman awoke, she asked to leave the house for medical treatment.

Smith allegedly refused to let her leave the house for two days.

Smith left the residence after two days, and the victim was able to escape, Foltz said.

Smith was last seen driving a blue Ford Expedition with Louisiana license plate number NRT691.

Foltz said Smith is known to be violent and should not be approached or confronted, because there may be the chance that Smith is armed with a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information regarding Smith's whereabouts is urged to call Detective Sean McLain at the Slidell Police Department at

646-4347.
