With an appetite for destruction, the firefighters of Slidell fought the law, and the law won the inaugural Rob Callahan Guns and Hoses Bowl, 28-18.

Members of the Slidell Police Department and the St. Tammany Parish Fire District played their flag football bowl game at Slidell High School Sunday before a crowd of more than 300 people, who held a moment of silence before the kickoff in memory of Slidell Police Capt. Rob Callahan, who died earlier this year.

The Slidell Police scored first and led 18-6 at halftime, finishing with a 28-18 victory.

"It was a great success," Slidell Police Department Public Information Officer Kevin Foltz said. "Everyone had a great time."

Even though the firefighters lost, there were no hard feelings.

"It was a great game," Fire Chief Larry Hess said. "Nobody lost, it was a win in so many different directions for both sides. We look forward to next year's game."

By selling T-shirts and barbecue at the game, the police and the firefighters raised more than $2,100. The money raised will be split between the American Heart Association and Capt. Rob Callahan's family. The proceeds will help set up a college scholarship for Callahan's three daughters.

"I think next year we will have to make bigger arrangements," Hess said. "We didn't expect the huge crowd that we had. It was great to see so many people come and show their support."

" Wow, the first thing i was asked when the police woke me standing over my bed was, " Can we search your truck?"
Few nights before I won 1400$ from the casino, and had 600$ in my wallet to deposit in the bank. I do not carry my wallet with THAT much money around in my pocket. It was in the center console of my truck as always.
I guess they needed some more evidence.
Kind of shady. Well i hope they had a great time with my 600$!Don't you love police men? =) "
