Mandeville's Cade finishes third at Mount Carmel meet

Mandeville's Katherine Cade followed up last week's victory with a third-place finish in the Mount Carmel Cub Run held Saturday with featured 137 participants. She ran the three miles in 21:01.31.

Walker's Amber Abbott won in 20:08.30 and Mount Carmel's Morgan Passman (20:55.84) was runner-up.

The host squad was victorious with 27 points. St. Joseph (63) was second, followed by St. Michael (78), Dominican (147) and Choudrant (214).

Mandeville (245) took seventh, Slidell (309) was eighth, followed by Northshore (363) in the 11-team event. Salmen participated, but did not have enough runners to qualify for a score.

On the boys' side, Brother Martin (35) knocked off Jesuit (52).

Walker took third (110), followed by St. Michael's (116) and E.D. White (201) of the 19 teams.

Slidell (233) was seventh, Mandeville (398) tallied 10th and Northshore (457) tied with Ben Franklin for 12th. Salmen took part, but did not qualify for points

The Northshore girls' squad was led by 16th-place finisher Jenna Hennsler (22:23.07).

The boys' side had 213 competitors. A pair of Slidell Tigers made the top 20, including Blake Thompson (17:24.81), 14th and Zach France (17:39.24), 17th. Also for SHS, Matt Franszczak (18:25.68) recorded 35th place.

Mandeville's Connor Casey (18:03.98) took 30th.
