Slidell police are searching for a man who reportedly robbed the St. Tammany Homestead Savings and Loan at 200 Gause Blvd. Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 3:52 p.m., when a man walked into the bank and handed a threatening note to one of the tellers.

Police say the teller handed over "an undisclosed amount of cash," after which the man ran out of the bank in the direction of Auto Zone, one or two doors down from the bank.

The bank manager ran out after him, but the suspect got into a white Dodge pickup truck, believed to have Alabama plates, and sped away.

The man is described as 6 feet 1 or 2 inches tall, with a heavy build, brown hair and a scruffy brown beard, wearing a tan zip-up jacket and blue jeans.

He was last seen driving west on Gause towards Front Street.

Anyone who sees a person matching this description is asked to call the Slidell Police Department at 643-3131.

" Wow, the first thing i was asked when the police woke me standing over my bed was, " Can we search your truck?"
Few nights before I won 1400$ from the casino, and had 600$ in my wallet to deposit in the bank. I do not carry my wallet with THAT much money around in my pocket. It was in the center console of my truck as always.
I guess they needed some more evidence.
Kind of shady. Well i hope they had a great time with my 600$!Don't you love police men? =) "
