Part of the Dr. Seuss birthday celebration hosted by several St. Tammany Parish Library branches, the Mandeville Library held a party for the acclaimed children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel on Monday with Youth Services Librarian Shellie Savoy reading some of his famous selections.

The party attracted nearly 25 children and their parents who participated in several activities including a Who hide-and-seek contest and other craft assignments. The event also offered the children multi-colored cupcakes to dine on.

“What would a birthday party be without cupcakes,” Savoy said.

Geisel’s official birthday was on March 2 when he would have turned 104 years old.

Other branches that celebrated his birthday included Covington, Abita Springs, Slidell, Causeway, Pearl River, Folsom and Lacombe.
