Residual debris from Hurricane Katrina may be cleaned for the Bogue Falaya and Tchefuncte Rivers in Covington. The Natural Resource Conservation Service has offered to clean debris from the rivers if residents agree. A hearing will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at 212 W. 17th St. to discuss the matter.

They are proposing cleanup from the confluence of the two rivers up to Dogwood Road on the Tchefuncte and the Trace Bridge on the Bogue Falaya.

The program will be paid for the federal government, said Covington Mayor Candace Watkins.

All residents are encouraged to attend the hearing and voice their opinion about the cleanup and issues pertaining to these areas. For further information, call Covington City Hall at 892-1811.
