Slidell police are asking residents for help in finding a man wanted for shooting and wounding a Slidell man last Sunday morning.

Trevon J. Miller, 25, 60045 Javery Road, Slidell, is wanted for attempted homicide, said police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for the victim’s daughter, Shateasha Stokes, 24, for being a principal to attempted second-degree homicide, Foltz said Thursday.

According to police, a verbal argument late Saturday night led to the shooting on Eighth Street early Sunday morning.

Police got a call about a disturbance in Possum Hollow Park at 11:53 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived the man, who would become the shooting victim, told them he had an argument with Miller, who was the victim’s daughter’s boyfriend.

However, the victim told police the problem had been solved, and he would not give police any more details.

Later, at around 2 a.m., the victim was sitting in his van in front of his sister’s house on Eighth Street. He saw his daughter and Miller pass by in a brown four-door rental car.

The car stopped at the intersection of Daney and Eighth streets, and the victim’s daughter jumped out of the car and yelled, “Daddy.” The victim got out of his van and walked toward his daughter.

At the same time, the victim said Miller got out his car and allegedly came charging at him, his arm extended, carrying something under a towel.

The victim told police he heard three clicks and then a bang, and he realized Miller was shooting at him with a small handgun. A bullet struck the victim in the leg.

The victim went back to his van, got a baseball bat and threw it at Miller.

Police don’t know if the bat hit Miller, but the suspect retreated to his car and left the scene.

The victim went to his sister’s house and called police, and hung up. When police arrived, the sister told police the victim had left the house. She told officers her brother was having problems with her niece’s boyfriend.

Police were then informed that a shooting victim was at the Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released.

The man identified Miller as the shooter and also picked out Miller’s picture from a photo line up. A warrant for attempted homicide was put out on Miller.

Police said Miller is about 5-foot-7 and weighs 155 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and gold capped teeth.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Miller is asked to call Slidell Police Detective Keith Bowman at 201-1972, or to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-903-7867.
