What began as a day-filled romp of the town for five friends ended in a series of attacks that left three bystanders bruised and battered with broken bones.

Arrested for brutally attacking three pedestrians visiting the Mandeville Lakefront earlier last month were Glen Laborde, 20, 1822 Montgomery St. in Mandeville, Justin Laborde, 19, 2164 Louisiana Highway 909, Monterey, La., and Adrian Schoreck, 17, 16 Trey Lane, Belle Chasse, all charged with aggravated second-degree battery, and Alyssa Addison, 17, 1733 Montgomery St. in Mandeville, who was charged with accessory after the fact to aggravated second-degree battery and obstruction of justice.

Warrants were issued for a fifth subject, Jeffery Chaupzzzpette, 19, 502 Paris Lane, Houma, on the charges of aggravated second-degree battery and second-degree battery, but Thursday afternoon Plaquemines Parish police officials found the subject and transported him to Mandeville, where the arrest was made, Mandeville Police Department Capt. Ron Ruple said.

According to Ruple, at approximately 5:30 a.m. on April 8 four subjects in a dark-colored SUV approached a 53-year-old man who was jogging on the corner of Lakeshore Drive and West Beach Parkway. The jogger said the driver of the vehicle stopped and asked for directions. In his attempts to assist the driver, the driver and one of the passengers exited the SUV and charged after the man.

The victim tried to escape but was overtaken when the subjects knocked the man unconscious with a blow to the back of the head.

The man received medical treatment at a local hospital for a broken collarbone and abrasions.

“It was not a robbery. They were just out for fun,” Mandeville Police Sgt. Vincent Liberto said.

Detectives later identified Justin Laborde, Chauppette, Schoreck as the subjects who attacked the jogger. Police also reported during interrogations Addison initially denied having any part in the attack, but it was later proved she was in the SUV when the altercation took place.

That same day, at the same place and just 12 hours later, the subjects were traveling on Lakeshore Drive when they saw two males, ages 17 and 16, they recognized as individuals they had had verbal altercations with the previous night while attending a party in Covington, Liberto said.

The perpetrators exited their vehicle at the corner of Jackson Avenue and confronted the two teens. A brawl ensued with one of the subjects striking the victims with a wooden broom handle. Both victims received medical attention from a nearby hospital for a broken nose, contusions and abrasions, Ruple said.

Investigators learned later Glen Laborde, Justin Laborde, Chauppette and Schoreck were involved in the fight.

All five subjects were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

Liberto said the five became friends while employed together in Plaquemines Parish some time ago. He said they got together for an evening of fun on April 7 that led to their rampage through the city streets the next day.

“They did tell us that they jumped a couple of other people as well throughout the morning hours, but unfortunately no one else has come forward yet,” Liberto said.
