Schwaner was an All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament selection and hit two home runs in a win at Louisiana Lafayette that helped the Privateers advance to the championship game. He played in 61 of 64 games, starting 55.
“It’s a great honor for me to be recognized since we have so much great baseball talent in the state with top players from LSU, Tulane and Southeastern,” Schwaner said. “I started the season pretty well. I had a home run in the first game. I finished up kind of strong in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. I got a lot more at bats than I did in my freshman year. It was good to be consistent at the plate to help my team,” Schwaner added.
Schwaner is currently in McKinney, Texas, playing third base for the McKinney Marshals in the Texas Collegiate League.
He has played in all 14 games, hitting .238 with four doubles, eight RBIs and has scored 10 runs. He has a .468 on base percentage. The McKinney Marshals are 8-6 in first place in the four-team league.
