The first Tony Nata III Speckled Trout Fishing Rodeo kicked off recently with food, fun, games and plenty of fishing over a two-day period.

The event took place at The Dock in Slidell with the first day dedicated for the fishing rodeo and the second day hosting the fun-filled festivities. All of the proceeds collected were donated to the Tony'€™s Room Foundation, a charity created in Tony'€™s memory designed to help families with children affected by leukemia build a Tony'€™s Room, a sanitized clean-room.

The fishing rodeo, which Tony'€™s parents are hoping to continue every year, was created after 8-year-old Tony died from leukemia last year after battling the disease for four years.

Robin Nata, Tony'€™s mom, said he loved fishing more than anything, so they'€™re using what he loved most to raise money and help educate others about leukemia.
