A Slidell man who already faces aggravated rape and molestation of a juvenile charges, was arrested for a third time Thursday on another aggravated rape charge by the Slidell police.

All three of the victims are children, ages 8, 5 and 3 years old.

William B. Naftzger, 32, 741 Eighth St., Slidell was arrested without incident Wednesday, said Slidell Police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz.

Naftzger

Foltz said Naftzger was first arrested Sept. 9, 2007 on aggravated rape charges for an incident with an 8-year-old child that occurred in early January 2007. The case was reported to authorities in Mississippi. After some investigation, Mississippi police discovered the attack had taken place in Slidell, and the Slidell Police Department took over the case.

Their investigation led to Naftzger’s first arrest on Sept. 9, 2007 for aggravated rape. He was released from the St. Tammany Parish Jail on Nov. 10, 2007 after posting a $100,000 bond.

The second incident, involving a five-year-old child was reported to the Slidell police by the child’s grandmother. This resulted in Naftzger’s arrest on a molestation of a juvenile charge on Dec. 20, 2007. Six days later, Naftzger walked out of jail after posting a $15,000 bond.

The grandmother then reported another rape of a three-year-old after the victim made some comments to her that made her believe Naftzger had molested the child.

After counseling and several interviews at the Child Advocacy Center, police got a warrant for aggravated rape against Naftzger, and he was arrested for the third time on July 2.

Foltz said that Naftzger knew all three victims, but would not release their identies for their protection. The captain also said all three incidents occurred before Noftzger’s first arrest, and there is no evidence that he molested the children after the first arrest.

Foltz said Naftzger was transported to the St. Tammany Parish jail where a bond will be set.

If convicted on the aggravated rape charge, Naftzger could face life in prison with no benefit of parole, probation of suspension of sentence.
