The new Sunshine Equipment John Deere Place on Louisiana Highway 25 in Covington has everything a consumer could want from hand held blowers, tractors and light industrial gear to apparel and toys. The new store is built to appeal to all types of consumers, not just agricultural customers.

The John Deere Place designation is awarded when a store is built to the company’s specifications. Everything John Deere makes will be available in the store, except heavy industrial equipment.

Stephen Dottolo, store manager, said the unique store is the first of its kind in Louisiana. There is 13,000 square feet of equipment for everyone from homeowners who need a small push lawn mower to small commercial agriculture and light industrial equipment. Gators, off-road vehicles, are also available.

Maintenance equipment and equipment maintenance kits for the do-it-yourselfer are on site as well as a fully staffed parts and service department.

Tractors range in size from 4 to 5 inches to farm equipment size. The miniature tractors are for the younger set or collectors who are interested in the toys. Tot-size tractors and John Deere bicycles are also available. Everything “John Deere,” even a tractor piñata and party supplies, barbecue pits and tool boxes, can be found in the store.

Sunshine Equipment has been in operation for 37 years, and this is the fifth location in southeast Louisiana, said Ray “Chip” Crochet, marketing manager. Aside from the new store type, Sunshine boasts it is the largest John Deere Ztrak dealer in Louisiana and Arkansas.
