The Covington Historic District Commission recently approved an application for a certificate of appropriateness by Tyler Case DDS. Case was applying for permission to enlarge his dental office building on East Rutland Street and presented his plans and proposals for the project.

The CHDC approved his request because his plans reflected a continuation of the present character of the building, including the same overlap in siding used and window styles. The building was Case’s wife’s grandfather’s home.

Also, the sign ordinance originally considered by the CHDC will be included in the comprehensive zoning ordinance being prepared by Steve Villavaso and Associates.

Due to conflicts with other areas of the city, the comprehensive plan will contain a sign ordinance for the entire city. Upon completion of the comprehensive sign proposal this fall, the CHDC may consider particular needs of the historic district if needed.
