St. Paul's School honors students, teachers at ceremony

St. Paul’s School in Covington recently honored students at an awards ceremony.

Receiving awards were National Merit Finalist Brian Logarbo and Michael Pellissier and Joseph Sedtal, Nation Merit Semi-Finalists.

The Walker Percy Scholarship, funded by the author’s family, for outstanding writing was given to Christian Chaney.

The Brother Bill Parsons Quiz Bowl Scholarship was awarded to Jared Coe.

Winston Capps received the Al Doskey Award for achievement in science; and the Jan Neumann Award and scholarship for achievement in math.

The Public Relations Award was given to Tucker Gray.

Alex Levy received the Francis A. Richard Habitat for Humanity Award, accompanied by a scholarship. This award is presented to an underclassman that has worked diligently with the Habitat for Humanity Club on campus.

Adam Denniger received the American Legion scholarship. The first Brother Cassian Lange Scholarship and Award for the student who demonstrates the highest regard for the principals of Lasallian education was presented to Jeff Ramon.

Greg Blasiar received the Darren Boudreaux Scholarship, given by the Boudreaux family to the junior who embraces the ideals of work, scholarship and family values.

The Eric Kolb Scholarship was given to Marley Stuart-Blossman for his talent in music and computers.

Students receiving awards for academics included: seniors, Sam Collett, Winston Capps and John Paul Tortorich; juniors, Christian Chaney, Jeffrey Coote and Daniel Scharmer; sophomores, Alex Levy, Alex Otero and Jeffrey LeBlanc; and freshman, Ryan Harlan and Harrison Richard.

Receiving medals for service were: seniors, Max Miller and Ben Bryan; juniors, Nick Logarbo and Ryan Wilson; sophomores, Auggie Montalbano, Chris Smith and Alex Pate; and freshmen, Bradley Hollingsworth and Chris Dill.

Level achievement awards, the highest awards given by the school for both scholarship and service to the community were given to: seniors, Roy Mossy and Alex Richard; juniors, Alex Grashoff, Jared Coe and Brian Rozycki; sophomores, Michael Johnston and E.J. Hummel; and freshman, Harrison Richard and Alexander Sibley.

Underclassmen recipients of the level achievement awards also received Barton Hebert scholarships given in honor of outstanding 1959 graduate Barton Hebert for those students who demonstrate service to the community and excellence in academics.

Receiving the Louis Ross Scholarship for five years of perfect attendance were Ian McDougal, Conrad Kuebal, Andrew Vollenweider, and Justin Schick.

Faculty members were also recognized for their service: five years—John Carambat and William Nunez; 10 years—Jim Robertson; 15 years—Mary Pierson; 20 years—Craig Ketelsen and Br. Peter Tripp, FSC; and 30 years—Br. Ken Bosch, FSC.

The Br. Charles Crouzet Award for teacher of the year was presented science department chairman Jim Robertson for his outstanding teaching ability and dedication to the school and his students.
