Slidell police have arrested a woman wanted in connection with a May 11 shooting.

Shateasha Stokes, 24, of 2452 Fourth St., Slidell, was arrested at about 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Natchez Drive Wal-Mart. She was at the store with a woman who was picked up for shoplifting. Police decided to run both names and found two outstanding warrants on Stokes, one for being a principal to attempted second-degree homicide and another for failure to appear in court.

According to police, Stokes was present at the time her boyfriend, Trevon Miller, allegedly shot and wounded Stokes’ father in the early morning hours of May 11.

Police had responded to a disturbance between the victim and Miller earlier that day, but were told the issue was resolved.

Later that night, police said the victim was sitting in a van on Eighth Street when Miller drove up, stopped his car, and Stokes jumped out of the car, yelling “Daddy.”

Miller reportedly then shot the victim in the leg and fled the scene.

Stokes has also been charged with failure to return a leased vehicle.

Miller is still at large, is wanted on attempted homicide and for failure to appear in court.

He is described as about 5-foot-7 and weighing 155 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and gold capped teeth. Anyone with any information on Miller’s whereabouts is asked to call Slidell Police Detective Keith Bowman at 201-1972, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-903-7867.
