Kelley takes second in PGA Junior event

Mandeville’s Blake Kelley finished second in the Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series 16- to 18-year-old division at the Penn State University Golf Courses in State College, Pa., July 16-18, coming in two strokes behind Drew Imel of Bluffton, Ind. Imel shot a five under with rounds of 72, 70 and 69.

Hood Northlake Chevrolet bowed out of the American Legion 17-under State Championship Tournament Friday after falling, 16-0, against Lakeside High School of Sibley, which is south of Minden. The double-elimination competition was held at Plaquemines High.

The annual Southeastern Louisiana Coaches’ Caravan makes a stop in Madisonville tonight at the Pontchartrain Maritime Museum located at 133 Mabel Drive. The event gets underway tonight at 6:30. The cost is $5. Head football coach Mike Lucas, head baseball coach Jay Artigues, men’s head basketball coach Jim Yarbrough and head golf coach Tim Baldwin will be in attendance.

Last Tuesday, the Knights 18s lost a close one to the New Orleans Spice, 2-1, in a game played at Southeastern Louisiana University.

La. Knights 17s post victory in final game of the summer

The Louisiana Knights 17s finished off the summer in winning fashion last Friday, downing the Louisiana Legends 16s, 11-2, in five innings at Southeastern Louisiana University. The Knights 17s capped off the season with a 24-15 record, improving from last year’s inaugural mark of 17-18.
