Pelican Athletic Club takes third at regional meet

Pelican Athletic Club’s 8 and under swimmers celebrated a third-place finish at the Louisiana Swimming 8 and Under Regional Championship meet July 5-6 at the Elmwood Fitness Center in Harahan.

William Duncan, 7, was the team’s top scorer with 90 points and also finished as the high point runner-up in his age group.

Noah Cumby, 8, was the team’s runner up high scorer with 81 points. Cumby took first in the 50-yard freestyle, and third in the 25-yard butterfly. Meredyth Buisson, 8, finished as third high scorer for the team with 62 points. Buisson earned a second place in the 25-yard breaststroke. Griffen Clements, 7, also tied for third scoring 62 points for PAC.

The following swimmers scored top three in the following races: Whitney Duncan, 7, took second in the 25-yard butterfly; William Duncan finished third in the 25-yard breaststroke and 25-yard butterfly. The 6-and-under boys freestyle relay made up of Joshua Quarterman, Owen Cumby, Zachary Parkins and Sam Englehart finished second.

The 8-and-under girl’s medley relay team of Duncan, Buisson, Mia Osborne-Cambiss and Hannah Wagner came in second.
