Magnum Monster Mania coming to A-1 Raceway in Lacombe Aug. 8-9 A-1 Raceway in Lacombe will host the Magnum Monster Mania, the only outdoor long-track style monster truck race of its kind in the state, Aug. 8-9. Competitors from states such as Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Illinois will be participating. Ronnie Marshall, who owns the track along with his wife, Linda, said this has been in the works since September. Marshall met Brandon Lagarde of River Ridge when Lagarde was at the track doing a Disney movie production with Marshall last September. Lagarde, who owns monster trucks and operates two ride trucks, said he wanted to have something different. He added that one of the events will be the obstacle course. “We’ll have two monster trucks racing each other on a short-style track. They must stay between two outside lines, while jumping over obstacles on one big track,” Lagarde said. He added the trucks will whatever is needed to win, including cutting each other off. The gates open at 3 p.m. both days. Action begins at 7. The tractor pull will also feature a monster Army Tank. The trucks will do a tug-of-war, and there will be drag racing. Tickets are on sale now. The cost is $25 for pit passes, $15 for ages 13 and older and $5 for children 3-12. For more information, call 960-1462 or visit www.a1raceway.net. |
