Due to a lack of response at Monday night’s final public meeting on the Slidell Tomorrow master plan, the city administration has rescheduled the meeting for Aug. 13.

The meeting is the last in a series of public meetings held by the city administration and planning consultants, Urban Designs and Villavaso and Associates, to get residents’ input to Slidell Tomorrow, a plan to guide the city’s growth over the next 20 years.

Steve Villavaso of Villavaso and Associates said it is very important that Slidell residents attend the last meeting because the consultants will hand out a questionnaire to participants asking their views on certain parts of the master plan.

There will be questions on land use, housing, retail space, medical facilities and other areas of urban planning.

The consultants will present the results of the questionnaire to the Master Plan Advisory Committee, made up of private citizens and city government officials.

They will use the views of residents when putting together the first draft of the master plan.

Jeff Messina of Urban Designs said the first draft of the master plan was to be presented to the public by August. Now that the final public meeting has been moved back, he expects the first draft to be presented sometime in September.

The rescheduled meeting will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Slidell Auditorium.
