Slidell girl dies in car accident Sunday

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department in Mississippi reported Monday that a Slidell woman was killed in a traffic accident when her car ran off the road and into trees.

Christen Herbert, 24, of Slidell, died from her injuries at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said.

Brisolara said Herbert was driving south on Shaw Road in her 1996 Infinity when she lost control of the car, ran off the road, hit an embankment and then struck some trees.

Investigators determined that Herbert was traveling over the speed limit at the time of the accident.

She was wearing her seat belt, Brisolara said. Herbert was taken to the Garden Park Hospital with serious injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.
