The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect wanted in an attempted armed robbery of a Wendy’s restaurant just outside Slidell city limits Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. George Bonnett said the suspect is described as a tall thin black man, between 6 feet, 1 inch and 6 feet, 4 inches tall. According to witnesses, the suspect had a short afro-style haircut and a mole next to one of his eyes. He was last seen wearing dark pants, a white or gray tank top and a gray shirt around his face.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to an armed robbery call at 8:40 p.m. after the restaurant’s manager called 911.According to witnesses, the suspect entered the Wendy’s located at 2405 Gause Blvd. E. around 8:30 p.m. armed with a handgun and demanded the employees open the cash drawers. The workers refused, and the suspect went behind the counter and repeated his demand. Again the employees refused to open their cash tills, and the suspect fired his handgun multiple times then fled the restaurant without any money.

Bonnett said no one was injured during the robbery. The suspect was last seen climbing over a fence outside the restaurant.
