Pelican Park adult registration ongoing

Pelican Park registration for adult sports runs through Friday in the Castine Center.

The office will be open for signups from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Registration will be for Men’s Recreational Softball, which plays on Sunday afternoons at a cost of $215 per team. Men’s Competitive Softball competes on Thursday evenings for a fee of $400 a team, while Men’s Modified Overhand Softball, which takes place on Sundays, is also $400 per squad. Competitive Co-ed Cabbageball had its games on Friday evenings at $280 a team.

Co-ed Competitive Kickball will play games on Friday evenings for $280 per team, while Just For Fun Co-ed Volleyball will be on Thursday evenings at a cost of $80 per squad.

There will be two basketball leagues both costing $455 a team. The competitive one will have contests on Sundays, while the Over 35 Men’s Basketball is on Wednesdays.

CRD holding registrations

The Covington Recreation Department is holding registration for fall baseball for boys’ ages 7-14. The baseball registration deadline is Thursday August 14. Evaluations are scheduled for Aug. 15. CRD is also holding tackle football registration for boys’ ages 5-12. The registration deadline is Friday Aug. 15. Evaluations are scheduled for Saturday Aug. 16. Cheerleader information is also available. Applications are being accepted at CRD located at 317 N. Jefferson, Room 142 (inside the Greater Covington Center) Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All players for both sports must be registered to be evaluated. HAVOC to hold tryouts for 10U, 12U

HAVOC Fastpitch will hold tryouts for the 10U and 12U age groups, Sunday, August 17 at 1 p.m. on Silver Field #6 at Pelican Park in Mandeville. HAVOC is based on the Northshore and will be taking to the field for the ninth year, fielding teams in the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U age groups. Pelican Park registration set

Pelican Park is holding its fall sports registration through Tuesday for baseball, softball, football, volleyball and cheerleading.

Practices begin Aug. 25. Baseball, softball and volleyball games begin Sept. 6. Football and cheerleading begins Sept. 13. The ages are different for the various sports. Football and cheerleading ages 7-12 are eligible, while baseball is 7-17, softball ages are 7-16 and volleyball players must be 9-16.

New participants may sign up at the Castine Center Monday-Friday 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. along with Aug. 4 and Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. New sign ups must bring a copy of their birth certificate and utility bill for proof of residency.

LYRAA signups end Saturday

The Lee Road Youth Athletic Association will be holding registration for football and cheerleading on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lee Road Junior High School.

YMCA soccer, T-ball registration ongoing

The West St. Tammany YMCA is holding registration for youth T-Ball and soccer.

The T-Ball program will start on Sept. 10 and goes through Oct. 22 for boys and girls ages 3-5 at the Covington Youth Soccer Fields from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Soccer begins on Sept. 13 and runs until Oct. 25 for boys and girls 3-5 years old at the Covington Youth Soccer Fields from 9-10 a.m.

Flight of the Crowe golf tourney soon

The Seventh Annual Flight of the Crowe Golf Classic 2008 will take place Sept. 19 at Oak Harbor.

Registration will take place 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. the day of the 4-man scramble event.

The entry fee is $150 per person or $550 for a four-person team. The cost includes green fees, cart, goody bag, mulligan, a putting and chipping contest, drinks, barbeque lunch along with a shirt. Non-players can pay $30 for the barbeque lunch only. Golfers will have the opportunity to win three vehicles and a boat. For more information, call 788-7551 or visit www.agcrowe.com.

Northshore River Anglers to meet

The Northshore River Anglers will meet every Wednesday at the Hwy. 90 East Pearl Landing from 5 p.m. until dark. The cost is $25 per team and $5 more for big fish. Registration begins at 4:30. For more information, call James at (504) 382-9595 or Chris at 710-1313.

CYSA registration available online

Registration for Recreational and Division 1 Soccer teams is available now at the CYSA web site www.covingtonsoccer.com. Registration is also available at the CYSA Fields on Penn Mill Rd. tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Beginning players must be four years of age by today. Teams will be formed in August and start playing in September. For more information visit the Web site and contact us by email or through our phone message system at 867-1665.

MSC soccer referee course

The Mandeville Soccer Club is hosting a soccer referee course August 10-17. For more information call 624-8080 or visit Web site www.mscsoccer.org.

MSC is also hosting an “E” coaches certification course beginning Aug. 15 and a “D” coaches licensing course starting Aug. 15.

Fall basketball planned at NBTC

The Northshore Basketball Training Center Fall Sessions are now posted. The sessions start August and run through December for boys and girls ages 5-14.

The clinic has open registration, but each class has limited spaces.

There is also a New Tots Program along with Recreation Biddy and Amateur Athletic Union team training.

Monday Evening Anglers to meet

The Monday Evening Anglers will meet every Monday at Bonfouca Marina in Slidell at 4 p.m. with blast-off at 4:30. There is a $20 membership fee and $25 tournament fee.

NTA offers youth program

The Northshore Tennis Association has an ongoing Junior and Mr. Pee Wee development tennis program for boys and girls ages 4-18. It starts with private or semi-private sessions to familiarize youngsters with tennis terms, stroke production and procedures. The year-round programs are held on the Kehoe-France Northshore School and public courts in Covington and Mandeville.

Competitions are held for boys and girls 10 and under that have not been ranked on a state level and are new to tournament competition.

Yearly registration is $25 and $5 and an unopened can of tennis balls is required per tournament or $8 total per tournament.
