Parish Council members on Thursday unanimously created a five-member board to police and improve drainage of 116 acres in Covington’s Northpark subdivision.

Sub-Drainage District 3 is an offshoot of its parent drainage district, Gravity Drainage District No. 5, representing a larger swatch of the area.

Peter Persson, Ronnie Webb, Forest Forbes, Jerry Lambert and Phil Fox were chosen to serve five-year terms on the district’s board.

In other news, several appointments were approved to various governmental boards, including two fire districts and the St. Tammany Parish Development District Board. The following were appointed:

• John Sammons to St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District No. 7 in Pearl River to replace John J. Brady, who recently died.

• William Dobson reappointed after his term expired to St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District 4 in Mandeville.

• Danny Schaus and Chad Collins to the St. Tammany Parish Development District Board for two consecutive one-year terms.

• Iris Johnson to the St. Tammany Parish Board of Library Control. Johnson replaces James Don Scroggins, who resigned.

• William Marsalis to St. Tammany Parish Sewer District No. 4 to replace Robert T. Meyers, who also resigned. The council reappointed Emil S. Johansen, Clyde Russell and Darrel Milburn to the district.
