A 41-year-old woman died and another woman and a man were hospitalized after a two-car collision Thursday morning.

It happened about 7:30 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 41 just outside Hickory. Loretta L. Crawford, 41, of Pearl River, was driving a 1994 Ford pickup when she crossed the center line into the soutbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Krislee Dier, 45, of Franklinton.

Crawford, who was prounounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Angel Galloway of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, was not wearing a seatbelt.

Both Dier and her passenger, Jared Dier, 18, also of Franklinton, sustained severe injuries. The two were transported by Acadian Ambulance to St. Tammany Parish Hospital, with Dier airlifted by helicopter. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. However, blood samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
