The St. Tammany News is continuing is looking for this year’s St. Tammany Parish Citizen of the Year.

The 2008 competition is open for nominations, and candidates and their stories will appear in the newspaper's Profile Edition in September, at which time the winner will also be announced.

The people we're searching for are unsung heroes or heroines. They enjoy doing things for others but do not do so for recognition. They do it because they care about St. Tammany Parish and want to make it a better place to live.

And from among these special folks, one will be named St. Tammany Parish 2008 Citizen of the Year.

How about it? Certainly you know of at least one individual who qualifies. Please take the time to nominate him or her by sending us the following information: Name of candidate, why the honor is deserved, and your name and phone number in case further information is needed.

Mail it to: St. Tammany News Citizen of the Year, P.O. Box 90, Covington, LA 70434; or drop it by our office at 19290 19th Ave., Covington, or our Pontchartrain Drive office in Slidell. The deadline is approaching at the end of this month, so please don't delay.
