An area resident has sued St. Tammany Parish for failing to chop down weeds at a Mandeville area intersection that obstructed her view and caused an accident, the suit alleges.

Carla Tyson, through her Covington attorney Delbert G. Talley, filed the lawsuit after an Oct. 26, 2007, accident at the corner of Orleans Street and Lafitte Street.

The suit alleges Tyson stopped at the intersection of Lafitte Street then proceeded forward when, her 1992 Lexus 300 was smacked by an oncoming 2002 Ford.

Overgrown weeds blocked Tyson’s view and thus caused the accident, according to the suit.

Tyson, who suffered property damage and bodily injury to her neck and back, is still paying medical bills, according to the suit. Tyson is suing for an undisclosed sum.
