An area resident has sued St. Tammany Parish for failing to chop down weeds at a Mandeville area intersection that obstructed her view and caused an accident, the suit alleges.

Carla Tyson, through her Covington attorney Delbert G. Talley, filed the lawsuit after an Oct. 26, 2007, accident at the corner of Orleans Street and Lafitte Street.

The suit alleges Tyson stopped at the intersection of Lafitte Street then proceeded forward when, her 1992 Lexus 300 was smacked by an oncoming 2002 Ford.

Overgrown weeds blocked Tyson’s view and thus caused the accident, according to the suit.

Tyson, who suffered property damage and bodily injury to her neck and back, is still paying medical bills, according to the suit. Tyson is suing for an undisclosed sum.

" I have been driver for 10 years now. Many time I wonder about my vision being blocked by tree, sign, or like in this case overgrown weed. People in this country are sue happy, but something should be done to ensure proper visibility is accomplished on our streets. Law Suit maybe wrong answer, perhaps tickets to property owners good idea. "

" Where the problem comes in is they proably had a cell phone in their hand texting or talking on it. Their pain and suffering will go away when and if they when the law suit. Let the working class people pay their way one more time instead of getting a job and taking care of themselves, just suck the system dry. I say all these so called TV lawyers are bogus money sucking crooks that shouldn't be allowed to advertise on TV encourging all these bougus law suits. Put me on the Jury you want get anything. "

" It is common sence that if you have an obstructed view you inch forward enough to get a clear view. Had this been done it it is likely that only the head lights of the Lexus might have been hit or the car that hit the Lexus would have had time to see it and been able to respond by going around. What has happened to personal responsability? "

" Just face facts: you probably jusr arent a good driver. Don't fabricate and justify some bogus excuse and sue someone over it. Get real, learn how to drive. "
