Water rising near Slidell, some houses flooded Even though Carr Drive on the south end of Slidell is high and dry, the lake has risen and flooded properties on the south side of Slidell. Most of the houses there are on stilts, so they didn'€™t suffer any damage. But the Lake Pontchartrain waters have come right up to the edge of the road and there there are some houses that were not elevated that have taken on water. Earlier, water rose rapidly on U.S. Highway 190 east between Indian Village Road and the Rigolets, putting water into several houses along U.S. 190. People were rushing to get belongings out of the houses. STN Assistant Managing Editor Erik Sanzenbach spoke with members of the Glaudi family, who told him they had 9 feet of water in the home during Katrina and about 2 feet in their house now. Sanzenbach said they had just finished repairing the house and don'€™t know if they can do it again. As soon as more information is available we will post. |
