After Gustav finished reeking havoc across the city, citizens found their properties littered with debris from the storm.
Mayor Eddie Price said the city is ready to initiate its cleanup process and get the city back to normal with the first debris pickup day.

The debris removal includes residents near the lakefront where Gustav’s tidal surge left piles of seagrass and other forms of litter, including dead animals, across people’s yards.
Overall, Price said his city faired well in Gustav.
“A whole lot better than Katrina,” he said. “By no stretch of the imagination do I think it didn’t do any serious damage. We had a lot of property damage with houses literally sliced in half.”
