The first game was close early on as Chalmette led 4-3, but a kill by Hannah Gambrell tied the contest and seemed to give the Lady Tigers a lift, starting a 4-0 run by SHS. Gambrell led Slidell with nine kills and tied Quinci Hayward for the team lead by blocking two shots.
Chalmette answered the run by scoring three consecutive points and tied the game at 7-7, but SHS retook the advantage on a Gambrell kill.

Chalmette carried the momentum to the second game and took a 3-0 lead with final point coming on a Jordan Hartney kill. The Lady Tigers then fought back to knot the things at 3-3.
Chalmette took the advantage back on a dink shot, beginning another three-point spurt.
Trailing 8-4, the Lady Tigers tallied three points in a row to trim the lead to 8-7, but unfortunately for SHS, that was the closest the Lady Tigers got as Chalmette seized control of the game.
The Lady Owls went on a 13-2 run and took a 19-9 lead. A block by Allison Dolan ended the spurt, but Chalmette was too much in a 25-13 win.
The visitors took control of the third game early. The Lady Owls grabbed a 2-0 lead, but SHS tied the game at 2-2. The Lady Tigers first point was on a Hayward kill.
After Slidell knotted the contest, Chalmette posted six straight points and led 8-2.
Kills by Gambrell and Kaitlyn Crippin pulled SHS to 8-4, but the Lady Owls got back the momentum and never let up in another 25-13 victory to sweep the match.
Carley McInnis topped Chalmette with 23 assists, and Haley Smith posted 28 digs. Victoria Smith and Katie Scharfenstein each got three aces.
Chalmette coach Kelli Plaiscia said she is attempting to solidify her lineup, and she saw improvements in Tuesday’s match.
“It’s nice to win the opener, but it was more about hopefully making our lineup flow,” Plaiscia said. “We’re in a lineup that’s not bad, but it’s not flowing well. We had our scrimmages and jamborees, and we were trying to work out a lot of problems. It wasn’t great, but it was a whole lot better than it was for the scrimmages and the jamborees.”
Slidell coach Nancy Plaisance said she was disappointed in the way her team played.
“We were definitely playing in spurts. There were rallies out there, we had three plays on the ball and we made three errors. The pass wasn’t good, then set wasn’t good and then the hit wasn’t good,” Plaisance said. “I’m thoroughly disgusted with the way we played (Tuesday). We can play better than this.”
