Slidell is 0-1 after falling to Salmen, 28-7, last Friday night in the wind, while Carver has yet to play a game.
Slidell High second-year coach Artie Liuzza said it’s different preparing for a game without tape on the opponent.

In tough windy conditions last week, Slidell’s spread offense struggled.
But Liuzza said the wind had nothing to with his team’s setback. He said the inability of his offense to sustain drives put the defense in a bind, and that came back to hurt the Tigers in the end.
“When you’re playing a real good (quarter) back like that guy (Salmen’s Julien Troullier), he makes you miss, but our offense didn’t help us out. We had opportunities, but we blew it,” Liuzza said.
Slidell failed to score twice when it had the ball inside Salmen’s 10-yard line, and both times were in the second half while trailing 21-7.
The first time Slidell got it down to Salmen’s 4 but fumbled, and the Spartans recovered. On their next possession, the Tigers marched down to Salmen’s 7 but turned it over on downs. Salmen went 93 yards on the ensuing possession to seal the victory.
Slidell’s Forbis threw for 84 yards on 8-of-18 passing.
Slidell’s scoring possession was a 16-yard drive set up from a 70-yard punt by Stephen Mullet, which pinned Salmen at its 2.
After Slidell’s defense held, the Spartans were only able to get off a 12-yard punt, and two plays later, Forbis used his legs to get into the end zone from 7 yards out. The score at the time was 14-7.
Defensively, Slidell runs a 4-3 base. Liuzza said he was happy with his line play, including that of seniors Jason Smothers (6-foot, 254 pounds), Joe Hoffman (5-10, 244) and Brad Parker (5-11, 236) along with junior Alfred Halton (5-11, 288).
