Slidell Police Department looks for stabbing suspect

A Slidell woman was stabbed in the eye with an unknown object last Friday, and police are looking for the alleged perpetrator who is said to be armed and dangerous.

According to Slidell police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz, Malika T. Jackson, 21, 584 Beechwood Drive, Slidell, is wanted for aggravated battery in connection with the Sept. 19 incident.

The victim, a 21-year-old Slidell woman, told police she was involved in a verbal argument in the 500 block of Beechwood Friday afternoon around 1 p.m., when the altercation turned violent.

Police were called to the emergency room at Slidell Memorial Hospital about 1:30 p.m. by doctors who suspected the victim had been stabbed in the eye.

The victim told police she and and another female were arguing, then stopped, but the other woman called some friends. Soon, two carloads of people showed up.

One of the people who got out of the car was Jackson, who, according to witnesses pulled a small handgun from a bag she was carrying. Jackson was talked into putting the gun back in the bag, but she retrieved another object from the car.

Jackson then went up to the victim with another woman, and the three of them started to argue. Witnesses told police that during the argument, Jackson allegedly struck the victim in the eye with the fist that contained the unknown object. The victim’s eye was injured, and she left the scene. Friends of the victim took her to the emergency room after she realized how seriously she was hurt.

Slidell detectives have not been able to identify what object was in the suspect’s fist.

An opthamologist examined the victim’s eye to determine the severity of the injury. From the doctor’s diagnosis, police issued an aggravated battery warrant on Jackson.
