Ashley Suzanne Reckert and Capt. Rustin Hugh Necessary were united in marriage Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church in New Orleans in a military wedding.

The Rev. Callie Crawford officiated the 1 p.m. ceremony. Music was provided by Joel Bevington, organist; Gary Benoit, trumpet player; and Tara Brewer, friend of the bride, soloist.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Joseph Reckert of Slidell. Her mother is the former Suzanne Farmer of Houma. She is the granddaughter of James and Betty Farmer of Houma and Richard Reckert of Arlington Heights, Ill. and the late Eleanor Freeman Reckert.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Ann Rita Necessary, nee Ann Rita Harris, of Millers Creek, N.C., and the late C.H. Necessary Jr. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Edward Harris and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Necessary of Millers Creek.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her strapless silky taffeta gown was a Casablanca Bridal design featuring a multi-pleated bodice and sweetheart neckline contrasted by an A-line skirt with side and back pleats. The gown also featured beading at the empire waist and hand-beaded buttons down the back of the dress as well as the chapel train. All floral arrangements were created by Meade Wenzel of New Orleans.

Lauren Reckert Speer, sister of the bride, of Baton Rouge, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lee Ann Necessary Brownlee of Roanoke, Va., sister of the groom; Amelia Farmer, Georgia Palamoytis and Therese’ Talbot, all of New Orleans; Paula Smith Mount and Breanna McBroom Nuchereno of Mobile, Ala.; and Alisha Kensing Pemberton of Columbus, Ga.

Flower girls were Thompson Ann Brownlee and Catherine Harris Brownlee of Roanoke, nieces of the groom.

John L. Brownlee of Roanoke, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Jason Howell of Wilmington, N.C.; Mark Pemberton of Columbus; David Reckert, brother of the bride, of Slidell; Kevin Reckert, brother of the bride, of New Orleans; Trent Wall of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Cameron Walsh of Roanoke; and Jesse Wilson of San Jose, Calif.

Ring bearer was Elliott Lynwood Mount of Mobile, godchild of the bride.

A reception immediately following the ceremony was held at Pat O’s on the River in the Jackson Brewery Millhouse overlooking the Mississippi River. Music was provided by Louisiana Spice.

On the eve of the wedding, the mother of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner honoring the bridal couple and wedding party at Cannon’s Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans.

Following a wedding trip to Scotland and Ireland, the couple will reside in Columbus, where the groom is stationed with the U.S. Army.
