SHS (6-6) is 2-2 in district play. Quinci Hayward recorded nine kills and a blocked shot, while Courtney Courtney handed out 12 assists and three aces. Hannah Gambrell tallied five kills and two blocks. Allison Dolan had six kills, three digs and one ace. MHS sweeps Ponchatoula Mandeville’s Lady Skippers swept Ponchatoula’s Lady Green Wave Tuesday on the road, 25-13, 25-10, 25-12. MHS (6-2) moved to 3-0 in district play at press time, heading into tomorrow’s key District 5-I home match with the Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs. MHS senior Elizabeth Rinaudo turned in a strong all around match, recording 11 assists, six kills and six aces. Freshman Katie Lindelow chipped in with six kills, while senior Kana Koenig delivered seven digs. Delaney Pittari added seven assists, while Kristen Nelson served four aces and Kelsey Sparks contributed two blocks. Pearl River falls to Cabrini Pearl River’s Lady Rebels were swept by Cabrini, 25-4, 25-13, 25-19, in a district road match Thursday. Pearl River (4-5) is 1-1 in district play. Kim Treese led PRHS with 11 digs, while Caitlyn Harper posted five blocks and one ace. Gabby Jeansonne recorded four kills and Carly Jordan along with Taylor Peterson posted two assists. Northshore downs Hammond High Northshore’s Lady Panthers swept Hammond, 25-9, 25-19, 25-18, in a district match held at Hammond. NHS (4-6) was 2-1 in district play at Thursday’s press time. Blair Doiron dished out 23 assists and added five aces, while Catie Bates posted seven kills and four aces. Tory Hearn got five kills and Alexa Hardy tallied nine kills. Olivia Helmers contributed four aces and three digs. Pearl River opens district with win Pearl River knocked off Riverdale, 26-24, 25-17, 17-25, 25-23, in district play Tuesday at Riverdale. Caitlyn Harper led PRHS with 14 kills and four blocks. Katie Wallace posted 14 kills, while Gabby Jeansonne recorded nine kills and three blocks. Taylor Peterson dished out 20 assists and served three aces. Kim Treese tallied 17 digs, Carly Jordan got 15 assists, and Whitney Harris had 13 digs along with five aces. NCS sweeps First Baptist Christian School Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines swept First Baptist Christian School in district play Monday, 25-3, 25-4, 25-7, in Slidell. NCS (13-4) remained unbeaten in district play at 3-0. Brittany Scearce powered the Lady Wolverines to victory with 16 kills and five aces. Monica Raymond and Megan Steele notched seven kills each. Hannah Miranda recorded 20 assists with a team-high seven aces. Mary Wilson chipped in with 13 assists. Freshman Allie McLain pulled up 15 digs followed by eighth-grader Jess Himel with 12. SSA falls to Dominican St. Scholastica Academy’s Doves were swept by Dominican, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19, in a match held Saturday. Sam Delahoussaye led the Doves with 20 digs, while Meghan Clark posted 24 assists. Christina Wurm posted seven kills, Kristi Harrison recorded six and Audrey Gitz tallied five kills for SSA. Shelby Fritscher and Camille Walther each got two blocks and two aces. SSA coach Danny Davis said he thought SSA played well in spurts and made too many unforced errors at crucial points of the match, which hurt momentum. NCS goes 4-2 in McGill Toolen, Alabama tourney Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines posted a 4-2 record in the McGill Toolen Tournament Sept. 19-20 in Mobile, Ala. NCS finished second in Pool A play and was third overall in the tournament, falling to St. Paul’s of Alabama in the semifinals, 20-25, 26-28. Brittany Scearce tallied 13 kills, nine digs and two aces. Hannah Miranda posted 22 assists, 12 digs and two aces. Monica Raymond chipped in with six kills. NCS opened Pool A play, topping Harding High School Friday, 26-28, 25-21, 16-14, behind Scearce’s 13 kills and seven digs. Raymond added six kills, while Miranda delivered 15 assists and three kills. Mary Wilson totaled eight assists, and Jess Himel had six digs. The Lady Wolverines defeated Daphne, 25-15, 25-23, led by Miranda, who collected 20 assists, 12 digs and eight kills. Scearce added 12 kills followed by Raymond with eight. Hannah Miller came through with 14 digs, and Wilson added 11 assists. NCS downed Thompson High School, 25-15, 25-17, with Miranda fashioning 13 digs, 12 assists, four kills and two aces. Scearce finished with 10 kills and two aces. Raymond added 13 digs, while Wilson notched four assists. After winning its first three matches, the Lady Wolverines were tripped up by the McGill Toolen hosts, 19-25, 14-25, on Saturday. Miranda netted 15 assists and six kills. Miller totaled 13 digs and Himel added five. Scearce had five kills with an ace, while Wilson had seven assists. NCS came back to defeat Bayside on Saturday, 25-17, 23-25, 15-13 with Scearce powering down 13 kills and 10 digs. Miranda recorded 10 assists, five kills and two aces. Himel topped the Lady Wolverines with 12 digs, while Wilson added six assists. FHS finishes 3-2 in Alabama tourney Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs competed in the McGill Toolen, Ala., Tourney, finishing with a 3-2 mark. FHS was second in Pool Play. The Lady Bulldogs fell to McGill Toolen in the semifinals, 21-25, 12-25, on Saturday. FHS opened play Friday, downing Auburn Hills, 25-10, 25-8. The Lady Dawgs made it two in a row, topping Bayside, 18-25, 25-18, 15-6. FHS then came up short, falling to St. Paul’s, 21-25, 14-25. Fontainebleau defeated Thompson in the quarterfinals, 25-21, 18-25, 15-6. Senior Lindsey Barron came up strong leading the Lady Bulldogs with 51 kills and nine aces in the five matches. Barron also contributed 23 digs. Sophomore Taylor Anderson led the way with 55 assists. Anderson added 16 kills with seven assists. Jessica Guttierrez finished with 22 digs, 13 kills and eight aces. Setter Michelle Cabeceiras netted 41 assists. Amanda Schneck turned in 18 kills with Haley Bonneval adding 13. Sophomore Caitlyn Auxlien topped the Lady Bulldogs with 35 digs. |
