Mandeville beats Northshore

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers used solid serving to knock off the Northshore Lady Panthers, 25-15, 25-14, 25-14, in a district match Wednesday at MHS.

The Lady Skippers totaled 22 aces.

Mandeville (11-3) upped its district record to 5-1. Northshore (5-9) is 3-3 in district play.

MHS freshman Katie Lindelow knocked down 11 kills followed by sophomore Delaney Pittari with nine. Senior Elizabeth Rinaudo netted 19 assists, served six aces and pulled up five digs. Kelsey Sparks had six aces and one block. Kristen Nelson and Pittari collected four aces each.

Richelle Saluga led the Lady Panthers with seven assists, four digs and three aces.

Tory Hearn recorded six kills and three digs. Alexa Hardy contributed five digs.

SSA sweeps Covington

St. Scholastica Academy’s Doves swept the Covington Lady Lions Wednesday, 25-9, 25-20, 25-16, in a district match played at SSA. Camille Walther topped the Doves with nine kills followed by Kristi Harrison with six. SSA senior libero Sam Delahoussaye played a solid match with 15 digs and 10 aces. Monique Giarrusso was credited with six aces. Meghan Clark finished with 23 assists for the Doves.

Covington’s Jourdan Smith and Rachel Smith tallied seven kills each for the Lady Lions. Emily Smith contributed eight assists, while Jen Watkins came up with seven digs.

SSA coach Danny Davis said his club served exceptionally well. “The kids stepped up and did not allow Covington to get into any kind of rhythm.

 

Slidell tops Hammond

Slidell’s Kaitlyn Crippin had 19 kills, 10 assists, seven aces and a block, helping the Lady Tiger down Hammond, 25-17, 25-7, 25-16, in a district match held Wednesday at SHS. Slidell (11-9) is 3-3 in district play.

Hannah Gambrell recorded seven kills and two blocks, while Quinci Hayward along with Allison Dolan both got eight kills.

Pearl River gets knocked off

Pearl River’s Lady Rebels were swept by Louise McGehee, 25-13, 25-13, 25-7, in non-district road action held Wednesday.

PRHS was 7-7 heading into Thursday’s district match with Salmen.

Kim Treese led the Lady Rebels with nine digs, while Taylor Peterson got five assists. Caitlyn Harper and Gabby Jeansonne each posted three kills.

Mandeville downs Hammond HIgh

Mandeville defeated Hammond Tuesday, 25-16, 25-10, 25-16, in district play at Hammond. The Lady Skippers polished off 21 aces in the match led by Delaney Pittari with six. Katie Lindelow continued her consistent hitting with nine kills. Lindelow also had five aces with three digs. Elizabeth Rinaudo collected 11 assists, while Kristen Nelson came through with four aces.

Northshore High sweeps Covington

Northshore’s Lady Panthers downed the Covington Lady Lions, 25-18, 26-24, 25-15, in a district match held Tuesday at NHS.

Richelle Saluga led NHS with 18 assists, 15 digs and three kills, while Catie Bates had 13 digs to go with seven kills. Blair Doiron recorded 15 digs and four assists, while Tory Hearn tallied 10 digs.

Alexa Hardy posted 10 kills and seven digs for the Lady Panthers.

Covington’s Jourdan Smith notched a match-high 16 kills and Rachel Smith followed with 15.

NCS tops

Ursuline

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines defeated Ursuline Academy Tuesday in non-district action, 25-20, 25-27, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10, in New Orleans. NCS upped its record to 13-5.

Brittany Scearce pounded 29 kills to lead the Lady Wolverines’ attack. She also added two aces. Hannah Miranda continued her consistent play with 30 assists, 10 kills and 10 digs. Monica Raymond contributed 11 kills. Mary Wilson totaled 19 assists with eighth grader Jess Himel adding seven digs. Emily Miller served two aces for the Lady Wolverines.

PJP falls to St. Thomas Aquinas

Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars suffered a 25-15, 18-25, 25-11, 18-25, 15-12 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in the district opener held on the road Tuesday.

Paige Bourquard led PJP with 10 assists and tied Ashley Lang with seven kills. Lang also recorded four aces and Brandy Monnin tallied 17 digs.

 

De La Salle wins PRHS tourney

De La Salle won the Pearl River Tournament by sweeping Pope John II, 25-13, 25-13 in the finals.

The Lady Jaguars went 2-2 in the competition, while Pearl River finished third with a 3-1 mark in the six-team event.

PJP opened with a 25-20, 19-25, 15-12, setback to De La Salle. The Lady Jags then beat Pearl River’s junior varsity team, 25-13, 25-7 before advancing to the championship with a 25-16, 25-22, victory over PRHS’ varsity team.

In that game, Caitlyn Harper tallied eight kills and three blocks, while Taylor Peterson dished out eight assists. Kim Treese posted six digs.

The Lady Rebels won their first match over Ponchatoula, 25-18, 25-12. Peterson had seven assists and five aces, while Treese along with Katie Wallace dug out five shots. Jeansonne and Harper each got three kills.

Pearl River then won its second match, 25-8, 25-20, over Hammond.

Peterson handed out five assists and had four digs, while Jeansonne put down six kills and blocked three shots. Carly Jordan passed for four assists.

The third game was the loss to PJP, but the Lady Rebels came back in the third-place game and swept Ponchatoula, 25-22, 25-23.

Harper finished with five kills, while Jordan and Peterson tallied six assists. Treese posted seven digs. Jeansonne contributed three blocks and Whitney served a pair of aces.

PRHS first-year coach Britanee Symons said she was happy with the event.

“It ran pretty well. We were on time for everything,” Symons said. “The parents did awesome. The hospitality room was great and I had a lot of volunteers.”

MHS goes 3-0

in tourney

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers finished 3-0 in the Redemptorist St. Jude’s Volleyball Tournament Sept. 27-28. MHS defeated Riverside, 25-7, 25-8, led by Katie Lindelow’s five kills. Elizabeth Rinaudo contributed five assists and four digs. Summer Burglass had six assists and Delaney Pittari chipped in with five. Kelsey Sparks had three service aces and Nichole Freeman came up with two blocks.

MHS topped Ben Franklin, 25-18, 25-13, as Sparks ripped eight kills followed by Lindelow with seven. Sparks also served three aces and had one block. Rinaudo netted 13 assists, while Pittari added eight. Pittari topped the Lady Skippers with 10 digs. Mandeville downed Tara, 25-4, 25-16, with Alexis Wilson turning in five kills. Burglass had five assists and served four aces. Pittari came up with three aces, while Bryanna Zawodniak was credited with two digs.

 

FHS defeats Ponchatoula

Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs topped the Ponchatoula Lady Green Wave Wednesday, 25-6, 25-13, 25-12, in Ponchatoula. FHS (16-2) moved to 6-0 in district competition. FHS’ Jessica Guttierrez led the way with eight kills and Haley Bonneval added five. Amanda Schneck fashioned six aces.

McCrea Barney and Michelle Cabeceiras totaled eight assists each. Caitlyn Auxilien came up with eight digs and Brittany Dupaquier had five. Sarah Ulm and Emily Sulzer contributed two aces each.

SSA downs Ponchatoula

 

St. Scholastica Academy downed the Ponchatoula Lady Green Wave Monday, 25-11, 25-11, 25-17, in a match played at SSA. Junior Meghan Clark contributed 27 assists and added eight digs. Sam Delahoussaye delivered 13 digs.

Camille Walther tallied seven kills followed by Kristi Harrison with six.   

SSA coach Danny Davis said it was an all around team victory with everyone contributing.
