Lacombe man indicted in July fatality

A 32-year-old Lacombe man was indicted on vehicular homicide charges this week in the death of his passenger in a July car wreck, while two other men were indicted with juvenile sex crimes in separate incidents.

In its first case, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted Troy Allen Kilroy, 32, in the death of Chad Wershbale, 32, of New Orleans.

Wershbale was tossed from Kilroy’s 1997 Toyota Camry when it hit a railing and flipped on Louisiana Highway 435 near Abita Springs on July 20.

Wershbale wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. He died seven days later at University Hospital.

Kilroy faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Police at the time said his blood alcohol level was .154, nearly twice the legal limit.

Also indicted were Carlos Miller, 80, of Covington, and Joseph Bayona, 47, of Slidell, both on charges of molestation of a juvenile.

If convicted, each face up to 25 years in prison. Bayona is accused of molesting a 10-year-old Florida girl in February. Miller is accused of molesting a 6-year-old girl for two years.
