NCS defeats Lutheran

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines downed Lutheran, 25-9, 25-2, 25-8, in district play Monday at home to remain unbeaten at 4-0. NCS (11-4) was led by Brittany Scearce with seven kills and Monica Raymond added five. Hannah Miranda and Mary Wilson posted 10 assists each. Emily Miller and Megan Steele delivered six aces each.

Pearl River downs Salmen

Pearl River High School’s Lady Rebels topped the Salmen Lady Spartans, 24-26, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23 in a district match held Thursday at home.

PRHS was (8-7) was 2-1 in district at Tuesday’s press time, while Salmen (2-8) was 0-3.

Kim Treese led the Lady Rebels with 21 digs and a pair of blocks, while Gabby Jeansonne recorded 12 kills to go with two blocks. Caitlyn Harper posted 14 kills, while Carly Jordan dished out 20 assists. Taylor Peterson tallied 16 assists and six aces. Catie Bennett had 14 digs.

Salmen’s Kristan Campbell put down 11 kills, while Aeriel Lara got 10 digs. Camila Cordoso posted 10 kills and Monique Pack handed out 13 assists. LaSamian Smith chipped in with seven digs.

NCS tops Assumption

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines won a hard fought five-game match over Assumption Saturday, 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 25-18, 16-14, at Assumption. Junior hitter Brittany Scearce pounded home 33 kills in the match. NCS assistant coach Jimmy Miranda said Scearce was nearly unstoppable at the net. “Brittany had a tremendous match. With all those kills, she only had five hitting errors,” Miranda said.

Monica Raymond totaled 16 kills and had four aces. Hannah Miranda topped the Lady Wolverines with 31 assists and 12 digs. She also contributed eight kills. Mary Wilson added 15 assists, while Hannah Miller finished with 10 digs.

In their second match Saturday, NCS fell to E.D. White, 24-26, 25-21, 20-25, 24-26. Miranda posted 28 assists, 10 digs and eight kills in the defeat. Scearce notched 15 kills followed by Raymond with 13. Eighth grader Jess Himel came up with eight digs and served three aces. Mary Wilson came through with 14 assists.
