The Archbishop Hannan Hawks (0-4) square off with the Rabouin Falcons (0-2) this afternoon at 3:30 in New Orleans at Pan American Stadium.

The Hannan Hawks hung tough for two and a half quarters last week before falling to Grambling 34-0. The Hawks only trailed 6-0, midway through the third quarter before the defense tired.

Rabouin lost to Lusher High School 18-6. Rabouin’s other defeat was a 56-12 loss to Bogalusa.

Hannan second-year coach George Templet said his Hawks have to find a way to generate some consistency on offense.

“We’re dropping passes and missing blocks. We have to guard against committing silly penalties in crucial situations,” Templet said.

“We have to do a better job offensively. We have to be able to put together some drives to keep our defense off the field. The defense turned in a good effort for most of the game last week against Grambling. The defense obviously wore down after being on the field so much,” Templet added.

The teams didn’t swap game film so they only have last year’s game as a reference point. Rabouin won last year’s contest 28-20.

Rabouin head coach Wallace Foster is in his second season with the Falcons.

He said his club runs out of an I-base formation. “We like to run the ball, and pound it up inside. We want to run the ball right at you,” Foster said.

Foster said his club isn’t very good throwing the ball, thus the concentration on the running game.

Senior Wesley Moore is the Falcons’ starting quarterback.

Junior Algin Anderson is the top running back along with junior fullback Dorrell Fields.

Senior right guard Octavius Lewis (5-10, 220) is the leading offensive lineman.

Rabouin runs a 4-3 defense led by senior nose guard Ricshad Lee (5-10, 260).

Senior linebacker Brian Frank (5-8, 200) leads the linebacking corps with senior cornerback Laquan Branch (5-9, 160) heading up the secondary.
