State and local Democratic party officials and candidates will be on board a Change for Louisiana Bus Tour touting the Obama-Biden presidential ticket and other candidates that will make two political rally stops in St. Tammany Parish Monday.

The bus tour, which begins a seven-day sweep of the state today (Wednesday), will pull into Harrison Pavilion at 38131 Amos Road off U.S. Highway 11 north of Slidell at noon for a two-hour rally and then arrive at 3 p.m. at the Rev. Peter Atkins Park at the corner of 28th and Tyler streets in Covington for a two-hour rally, both on Oct. 20.

Wanakee Hill, Northshore field representative for the Obama-Biden ticket, said state party officials are expected to speak at the rally along with representatives for the presidential ticket, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-New Orleans, who is seeking re-election, and Jim Harlan, D-Lacombe, challenging Steve Scalise, R-Metairie, for the 1st Congressional District seat, are expected to speak in person at both rallies.

Hill said free refreshments will be provided at both, and 50 Obama T-shirts will be handed out at both bus stops.
