Mandeville tops St. Scholastica

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers defeated the St. Scholastica Academy Doves Thursday, 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 19-25, 15-12, to win a key district match played at MHS.

Mandeville (14-7) remained in sole possession of second place in district with a 7-1 mark. SSA (9-5) fell to 5-3 in district.

Kelsey Sparks dominated play at the net for the Lady Skippers with 11 blocks.

She also served two aces. Senior libero Kana Koenig pulled up a match-high 34 digs, while freshman Katie Lindelow downed 12 kills. Summer Burglass netted 18 assists and Elizabeth Rinaudo added nine.

“Our senior setters Rinaudo and Burglass really did an outstanding job with their solid sets in the match,” Mandeville coach Christy Sanantonio said.

SSA’s Camille Walther was outstanding at the net for the Doves with 17 kills and seven blocks. Meghan Clark contributed 31 assists. Sam Delahoussaye came up with 30 digs and two aces. Audrey Gitz had five kills and served two aces. Christina Wurm chipped in with seven kills.

FHS defeats Hammond

The Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs remained unbeaten in district play, downing the Hammond Lady Tornadoes, 25-4, 25-6, 25-11, Thursday in Hammond. FHS (22-2) moved to 8-0 in district.

Jessica Guttierrez led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills and five aces. Haley Bonneval and Taylor Anderson both contributed seven kills.

Michelle Cabeceiras tallied 18 assists with four aces, while McCrea Barney finished with seven assists. Caitlyn Auxilien and Shelby Sharfenstein delivered 10 digs each.

Slidell beats

Covington

Slidell’s Lady Tigers knocked off the Covington Lady Lions, 25-21, 28-26, 25-8, in a district match Thursday at CHS.

The Lady Tigers (13-9) are 5-3 in district play, while CHS (3-12) is 1-7 in district.

Kaitlyn Crippin led SHS with 13 assists kills and 12 kills, while Hannah Gambrell tallied 10 kills. Courtney Courtney dished out 15 assists and served three aces. Allison Dolan posted seven kills and two digs.

CHS’ Rachel Smith tallied nine kills and four blocks. Jen Watkins had 10 digs, while Emily Smith had seven assists. Monique Kuhn had three aces.

STA downs Hannan

St. Thomas Aquinas downed the Archbishop Hannan Lady Hawks in non-district play last Tuesday, 25-15, 25-17, 25-14, in Hammond. Hannan is 4-10 overall on the season.
