Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival this weekend

Hundreds of wooden boats, antique cars, vendors, food, fun and games for the whole family will line the banks of the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville this weekend for the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum Wooden Boat Festival in celebration of Louisiana’s maritime history and culture.

Daily admission to the festival is $10 per person with seniors over 65 only $5 and children under 12 and uniformed military personnel free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Shuttle service will be available at the Courtyard By Marriott at 101 N. Park Blvd. in Covington on the hour from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle will make one stop in the Target/Belk shopping center on Louisiana Highway 21 before bringing people to the festival.

Pets, outside food or drink or ice chests will not be permitted at the event.

Live music, wooden boats, antique cars, local artists, crafts, food, children’s activities, river tours and an array of other activities and contests will all be presented at the festival.

The festival will kick off Friday with a Maritime Mania patron party themed Pirates of the Tchefuncte. The party will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. with a limited number of tickets available.
