MHS handles Ponchatoula

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers eased past Ponchatoula, 25-7, 25-14, 25-11, Thursday in district play a MHS. Mandeville (17-7) remained in second place one game behind Fontainebleau with a 9-1district record.

MHS had a balanced attack with Nichole Freeman blasting 14 kills. She came up with four digs and one block. Katie Lindelow delivered 12 kills, four digs and a block. Kelsey Sparks added 11 kills with a block. Elizabeth Rinaudo finished with 17 assists and six digs. Summer Burglass contributed 12 assists and five aces.

Melanie Gaines chipped in with four digs.                        

Northshore HIgh sweeps Hammond

Northshore’s Lady Panthers swept the Hammond Lady Tornadoes, 25-10, 25-19, 25-17, in a district match Thursday at NHS.

The Lady Panthers (8-13) evened their district record at 5-5.

Blair Doiron led NHS with 12 digs and nine assists.

Alexa Hardy posted 11 digs and five kills. Richelle Saluga handed out 21 assists, while Rachel Eberhard recorded five digs. Tory Hearn served four aces.

PJP II falls to St. Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas knocked off Pope John Paul II, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-10, in a district match held Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas.

The Lady Jaguars are 0-5 in district play.

Paige Bourquard led PJP with 25 digs, seven kills, seven assists, four blocks and three aces. Brandy Monnin recorded 20 digs, while Taylor Martin dished out 12 assists. Adriana Cutura tallied six kills and six aces.

Christa Roscigno, Taylor Martin and Katherine and Kathryn Durrett each posted five kills.

Mandeville tops Sacred Heart

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers took Sacred Heart Academy in four games Wednesday, 25-18, 15-25, 25-15, 25-22, in non-district action on the road.

Katie Lindelow pounded 12 kills to go with four aces. Kelsey Sparks tallied 11 kills and two blocks. Melanie Gaines finished with 10 kills, while Kana Koenig notched 19 digs. Elizabeth Rinaudo paced MHS with 19 assists followed by

Summer Burglass with 10.    

CHS falls to PHS in five games

Covington’s Lady Lions fought hard in Tuesday’s district match against Ponchatoula, but fell in five games, 12-25, 25-23, 20-25, 28-26,13-15, at Ponchatoula. CHS’ Rachel Smith turned in a strong effort posting 26 kills and 19 digs.

CHS coach Belinda Barron said Rachel Smith turned in her best match of the season. Emily Smith had 25 assists and Monique Kuhn served four aces.

Salmen falls

to East Jeff

East Jefferson and Salmen went the distance with the Lady Warriors coming out on top, 26-24, 25-12, 16-25, 19-25, 15-9, despite eight aces from Salmen’s LaShamian Smith.

Tuesday’s district match put the Lady Spartans (2-12) at 0-5 in district play at Thursday’s press time.

Kristan Campbell had 11 kills for Salmen, while Aeriel Lara tallied 11 digs. Monique Pack had 16 assists.

PJP II gets beat by Dunham

Dunham swept Pope John Paul II, 25-11, 25-11, 25-18, in Tuesday’s district match held at Dunham. No stats were available for the Lady Jaguars.
