Miss Louisiana's Outstanding Teen to appear at Tour de Tammany April Nelson, Miss Louisiana’a Outstanding Teen 2008, will be Tammany Trace Trailhead Caboose at Koop Drive in Mandeville from 10 a.m. until 2 pm. Saturday during the 2008 Tour de Tammany. Nelson, a Fontainebleau High School student, will be signing autographs and assisting children with crafts during the bike ride event. The Tour de Tammany begins at the caboose with two escorted rides, a 14 mph group at 8 a.m. to the Slidell trailhead, and a family friendly 7 mph group at 9:30 a.m. to the Mandeville Trailhead and back to the caboose. Both groups will be escorted, and riders of all ages and all abilities are welcome at the event. Riders will be required to have helmets and a bike in good operating condition. Cost for a single rider is $20, a couple is $35, and a family is $45. After the rides, there will be food, drink and live music by Missi Spinosa of the band Witness. Also, a D.J., karaoke and line dancing will be enjoyed at the Tammany Trace Trailhead Caboose. Prizes will be awarded for Best Decorated Bike, Best Rider Costume or Theme, Oldest and Youngest Rider to Complete the Slidell Ride and Largest Group Riding. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Kid’s Konnection Playground, the Mia Grace Leukemia Foundation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Reserves.
