NCS sweeps Lutheran

NCS closed out its district season with another unblemished record, finishing 10-0 after downing Lutheran, 25-6, 25-13, 25-6, Tuesday on the road. NCS (23-9) captured its third consecutive district title under fourth-year head coach Michelle Anderson.

Brittany Scearce topped the Lady Wolverines with 15 kills and five aces. Hannah Miranda turned in a strong match with a team-high 22 assists, seven kills and seven aces. Monica Raymond chipped in with 10 kills. Mary Wilson contributed 14 assists, and Hannah Miller registered 14 digs.

Anderson said her club turned in a solid team performance against Lutheran playing at a good energy level. She said when her team got together after the match, Miranda said, “Hey, yes, that’s another district title.” Anderson said her club did a good job serving, which is something they have been working on.

“Hannah (Miranda) did a good job with her jump serving. She was also steady as a setter,” she said.

Anderson said her team is trying to get back into playing consistent volleyball with the playoffs approaching. NCS is participating in the ESA Spooktacular in Lafayette today and tomorrow.

SSA downs Covington

St. Scholastica Academy topped the Covington Lady Lions,

25-15, 25-17, 25-22, Tuesday in a district match played at SSA. The Doves (28-8, 10-3) were in third place heading into yesterday’s final district match against district champion Fontainebleau at FHS.

Christina Wurm topped the Doves with 12 kills. Camille Walther delivered nine kills and two blocks. Meghan Clark netted 23 assists, with Sam Delahoussaye pulling up 12 digs. Chelsea Champagne served two aces for the Doves.

Rachel Smith topped Covington with 10 digs and nine kills. Emily Smith contributed 15 assists.

Slidell sweeps Hammond

Slidell’s Lady Tigers knocked off the Hammond Lady Tornadoes, 25-8, 25-12, 25-13, in Tuesday’s district match held in Hammond.

Slidell (15-12) is 7-6 in district play.

Hannah Gambrell finished with eight kills and three blocks for the Lady Tigers, while Quinci Hayward recorded six kills. Kaitlyn Crippin had seven kills, four assists and an ace. Allison Dolan served eight aces, while adding four kills, four digs and a block.

Courtney Courtney dished out nine assists with four aces and three kills. Whitney Campbell totaled eight aces.

Cabrini downs Pearl River

Cabrini defeated Pearl River, 25-10, 25-5, 25-16, in a district match held Tuesday at PRHS.

The Lady Rebels (11-9) finished with a 5-3 district record. Pearl River had a tiebreaker match for second place against Riverdale Thursday.

Kim Treese recorded 14 digs for Pearl River, while Gabby Jeansonne posted six kills and Carly Jordan tallied seven assists. Caitlyn Harper blocked five shots for the Lady Rebels.

Episcopal beats Pope John Paul II

Episcopal defeated Pope John Paul II, 25-8, 25-19, 25-17, in a district match held Tuesday at Episcopal.

Brandy Monnin tallied 11 digs, while Paige Bourquard finished with five digs, four assists and three kills and Michelle Pontiff dished out six assists and posted a kill.

Mandeville goes 4-1 in Dominican

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers posted a 4-1 record in the Dominican Tournament last Friday and Saturday. Dominican defeated Mandeville in Saturday’s championship match, 25-19, 28-26. Katie Lindelow posted eight kills with six digs and two blocks to lead the Lady Skippers. Melanie Gaines collected nine digs and one ace. Elizabeth Rinaudo and Summer Burglass netted six assists each.

Nichole Freeman added three blocks and Kelsey Sparks had two.

MHS opened up Friday downing Karr, 25-8, 25-9, behind Lindelow and Sparks, who tallied 10 kills each. Lindelow also finished with seven digs and two aces. Rinaudo added 13 assists, while Koenig had five digs. Burglass and Sparks served three aces each. Sparks and Freeman came up with one block each. Mandeville also defeated Country Day, 25-18, 25-21, on Friday with Lindelow putting away 12 kills. Gaines downed five kills and added seven digs.

Elizabeth Rinaudo led the way with 12 assists followed by Burglass with six. Freeman added two blocks and an ace.

On Saturday Mandeville downed Chapelle, 25-19, 13-25, 15-10. Rinaudo totaled 14 assists, eight digs and two aces. Sparks topped MHS with nine kills and Gaines chipped in with six. Lindelow notched nine digs and seven kills. Koenig added 13 digs. Hannah Campbell delivered14 assists with Freeman posting two blocks.

MHS defeated Country Day: 25-15, 23-25, 15-6, for the second time in the tournament behind Lindelow’s 13 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Rinaudo fashioned 18 assists with Burglass adding seven.

Gaines was the Lady Skippers’ digs leader with 13 and Koenig finished with eight. Sparks served two aces with Freeman recording a block.

Mandeville tops Hammond

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers defeated Hammond, 25-6, 25-9, 25-9, last Thursday at home. Nichole Freeman put away 10 kills to lead MHS. Kelsey Sparks followed with nine kills and Katie Lindelow added eight. Elizabeth Rinaudo tallied 15 assists with five digs. Kana Koenig chipped in with six digs, while Lindelow came up with four.

Aces: Kelsey Sparks served a team-high nine aces followed by Lindelow with seven. Sparks and Freeman collected one block each.
