NCS trims SSA

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines edged the St. Scholastica Academy Doves, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, Monday in non-district play at NCS.

NCS (26-11) was paced by Brittany Scearce with 19 kills and three blocks.

Monica Raymond contributed 16 kills and three blocks.

Hannah Miranda finished with 25 assists, five kills and three blocks. Hannah Miller delivered 15 digs, while Mary Wilson totaled 13 assists.

SSA’s Meghan Clark netted 25 assists. Sam Delahoussaye delivered 17 digs. Kristi Harrison had seven kills. Camille Walther had three blocks.

 

Pearl River

suffers setback

Riverdale knocked off Pearl River, 25-20, 25-27, 15-25, 25-19, 16-14, in a match held at Covington High School for second place in the district Thursday.

The contest was played at a neutral site because both teams finished their district season with a 5-3 record.

Pearl River was led by Whitney Harris, who pulled up 23 digs and served 11 aces. Gabby Jeansonne recorded 11 kills and five blocks. Caitlyn Harper had 11 kills, nine blocks and six aces. Carly Jordan finished with 18 assists, while Taylor Peterson posted 13. Kim Treese tallied 18 digs for PRHS.

Pearl River coach Britanee Symons said despite the loss, her team had a good performance.

“I think we played really well,” Symons said. “They played as a team and they played tough, but just fell short in the end.”

Mandeville High sweeps Covington

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers, the second-place team in District 5-I, closed out the district season downing the Covington Lady Lions Thursday, 25-8, 25-6, 25-22, at MHS. Mandeville (26-9) finished with a 12-2 district record, losing both district matches to the undefeated Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs.

MHS’ Elizabeth Rinaudo netted 17 assists along with seven kills to help lead the Lady Skippers to victory.

Melanie Gaines, Katie Lindelow and Alexis Wilson tallied seven kills each. Kana Koenig topped MHS with seven digs, while Gaines and Nichole Freeman registered one block each.

NCS goes 2-2 in ESA Tournament

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines finished the ESA Tournament posting a 2-2 record. 

NCS defeated Northside, 25-10, 25-27, 15-9, on Friday. The Lady Wolverines then fell to Notre Dame, 23-25, 25-17, 15-17.

NCS couldn’t handle Terrebone, falling 18-25, 20-25. The Lady Wolverines got back in the win column downing Tuerlings, 25-19, 25-19.

Monica Raymond led the way for NCS registering 42 kills and four blocks. Brittany Scearce did her part knocking down 41 kills, four blocks and four aces. Hannah Miranda netted a team-high 75 assists along with eight aces.

Mary Wilson followed with 25 assists. Hannah Miller dug up 27 digs and Ally McClain chipped in with 25 to lead the NCS defense.

Slidell defeats Northshore

Slidell’s Kaitlyn Crippin posted 12 kills and 13 assists in a 25-18, 25-17, 25-20, victory over NHS Thursday in district competition at SHS.

Slidell (16-12) finishes the season with an 8-6-district record, while Northshore (9-16) completes the year at 6-8 in league play.

Courtney Courtney tallied 16 assists, three aces and two kills for the Lady Tigers, while Hannah Gambrell recorded nine kills and three blocks. Quinci Hayward had nine kills and two blocks. Breanne Rainey and Sara Tate each served three aces.

NHS was led by Tory Hearn with digs and five kills. Alexa Hardy pulled up 13 digs, while blocking five shots. Richelle Saluga passed for 14 assists.

Pope John Paul II falls to Dunham

Pope John Paul II’s Brandy Monnin tallied 30 digs in a loss to Dunham, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23, in a district match held Thursday at PJP. Adriana Cutura finished with 15 digs and an ace, while Michelle Pontiff recorded 12 digs, eight assists and three kills. Paige Bourquard had eight kills and eight assists for the Lady Jaguars.

MHS downs Cabrini

Mandeville defeated Cabrini Wednesday, 27-25, 14-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-11, at Cabrini. Freshman Katie Lindelow downed 17 kills and pulled up 23 digs to spark the Lady Skippers to a grueling five-game match vicory.

Elizabeth Rinaudo tallied 18 assists and three aces. Summer Burglass finished with 19 assists. Melanie Gaines served three aces and Kelsey Sparks recorded three blocks.
