St. Scholastica Academy senior libero (defensive specialist) Sam Delahoussaye is a four-year starter for the Doves. Delahoussaye helped SSA to a third place finish in District 5-I with a 10-4 district mark this season. She delivered a strong match with 23 digs Friday afternoon, helping to spark the Doves to a bi-district round playoff victory over their district foe Slidell Lady Tigers.

Delahoussaye has verbally committed to play volleyball for LSU.

Coach Danny Davis described Delahoussaye as a human vacuum cleaner on the defensive end. Davis used two words to describe his outstanding libero, incredible and amazing.

“Sam means an awful lot to our team. Since her eighth grade year we moved her up to JV. She has become one of the best defensive players in the state. I am confident she will do really well in college playing for LSU,” Davis said.

Davis characterized her as a wonderful person and super athlete.

“Sam is driven, and is so focused. She is awfully competitive. I very seldom have to tell her anything. I just let her do her thing. She gets in a flow, and definitely has mojo when it comes to defense,” Davis added.

Delahoussaye has registered an astounding 1,886 digs to this point in her illustrious career, and still counting as the Doves look to advance further in the ongoing LHSAA state playoffs.
