“I was very pleased with the effort. We are very strong offensively and don’t usually have too many hitting errors. If we are focused in serve-receive, our hitting is going to look good because we have really good hitters. They looked as comfortable and relaxed as they have looked in a long time,” Tullis said.
FHS senior outside hitter Lindsey Barron pounded a match-high 11 kills and 10 digs to help lead the Lady Dawgs to a convincing victory. Barron also served two aces. Michelle Cabeceiras netted 22 assists and served three aces. McCrea Barney added 13 assists.
FHS set an early tone with Amanda Schneck opening game one with four consecutive serves, including an ace. Following an unforced error, Jessica Guttierrez, who topped the Lady Bulldogs with five aces, clicked on four straight serves, including two aces, to build an 8-1 advantage.
Leading 11-4, libero Caitlyn Auxilien, who finished with five digs, reeled off five consecutive points to push out to a commanding 16-4 advantage.
Thibodaux junior Gelisa Francis connected on a couple kills, but the Lady Tigers were overmatched and fell 25-13.
Thibodaux scored first in game two on an unforced error, but with the game tied 1-1 Guttierrez got FHS on track blistering five consecutive service points, including a jump serve for an ace.
The Lady Bulldogs controlled game two with excellent serving. Cabeceiras put down three in a row to make it 11-2. Thibodaux’s Kacie Pitre had a kill to regain serve.

Following a Jordan Chiasson kill, FHS’ Auxilien finished off game two with three straight points. Anderson knocked two kills and Barron had one to take game two, 25-4.
Anderson, a sophomore hitter and setter for the Lady Bulldogs who finished with nine kills, said her team worked really hard in practice leading up to the bi-district match.
“We came out hard early, and I feel we played well,” she said. “Our offense is a big part of our team. It couldn’t be done without the great passing and the awesome sets we got,” Anderson said.
Bonneval, a freshman hitter and blocker who also delivered nine kills, played a solid match at the net for the Lady Bulldogs.
“I tried extra hard to help my team. Our passing is amazing, and our setting has improved so much over the season. I’m very excited about having a chance to play in the Pontchartrain Center,” Bonneval said.
Thibodaux tried to recover and took a 2-0 lead on two unforced errors by Fontainebleau. After a Thibodaux serving violation, Guttierrez clicked on six straight serves with two aces to regain the momentum with a 7-2 lead. Thibodaux’s Taylor Ford served two points to cut the margin to 7-4, but that was as close as the Lady Tigers would get.
Fontainebleau’s Cabeceiras rattled off six consecutive points with two aces for a 14-5 lead.
Schneck tallied three of her seven kills in game three. Barney served two points to put FHS up 19-9. Francis had a kill for Thibodaux, but a serving error turned the ball back to Fontainebleau.
