Lyon Elementary School in Covington recently hosted its family fun night, Lyon Lagniappe. Students and parents were treated to a variety of family-friendly activities such as face painting, leaf rubbings, counting the stripes on a pumpkin and free family portraits.
Lyon Principal Jeanine Barnes showed off her school with pride. “We’re the best-kept secret in the school system,” she said. “Our students are enthusiastic and the parents are wonderful — very involved with the school.”
Tucked away behind the LSU AgCenter off U. S. Highway 190, the school houses more than 600 students.
Covington High School’s band provided entertainment for the night in the cafeteria as “little lions,” and their families enjoyed dinner. Hallways flourished with artwork, and each.
